Kaua’i is one of the seven main Hawaiian Islands that form the U.S. state of Hawaii, in the Pacific Ocean. Kaua’i has long been a favorite destination for visitors who want to avoid the large crowds of O’ahu and Maui. Though most visitors come from the continental United States, Kaua’i is beginning to experience an increase in visitors overall as the island is becoming known for its pristine beaches and extremely friendly local hospitality.

As one of the Hawaiian Islands, Kaua’i enjoys international fame for its island beauty and lifestyle. The Napali coast, on the northern coast of the island, is one of the most beautiful coastlines in the United States, stretching for 16 miles. It’s full of rugged terrain and stunning ocean vistas on Hawaii’s oldest island. The city of Lihu’e is the capital of Kauai County, and the largest city is Kapa’a, built on the site of an old coconut plantation.

Aside from the coast, the Waimea Canyon State Park occupies part of the western half of the island, as is believed to be one of the oldest canyons in the United States. Whatever sort of adventure you are looking for on your Hawaiian vacation, the island of Kaua’i is sure to be a relaxing and adventurous destination.
