In California right now, wildfires are raging across much of the State, endangering people and wildlife in many areas. This year’s wildfire season is particularly volatile, owing to the environmental factors related to climate change. Rising global temperatures and subsequent water scarcity have created the perfect conditions for wildfires to rage in California and elsewhere around the world.

Our changing environment is just one of the ways that we have to reconcile with climate change. Temperatures will continue to rise as climate change becomes worse due to pollution, and humans will have to evolve in order to continue to survive. Symptoms of dangerous advances in climate change include wildfires, which can often be spurred by dry conditions in areas that had previously-healthy vegetation levels. These dry areas provide the kindling for fires to grow and rage out of control.

As we are in the middle of the hottest summer ever recorded in many places, recognizing the damaging and dangerous effects of climate change is necessary in order to be able to ensure the safety of our communities. We must do what we can to reverse harmful environmental effects to prevent further damage from climate change.
