In our mission to clean up the oceans and spread awareness about the dangers of oceanic degradation, we want to also look at where some of the cleanest sources of freshwater exist in the world. Here are a few top spots that we’ve located.

Te Waokoropupu Springs (New Zealand): These natural springs have enormous spiritual significance for some of the native Maori groups of New Zealand. Its waters run cool freshwater at amazing clarity. It is only surpassed in water clarity by Blue Lake, also located on New Zealand’s South Island. Swimming is not permitted because of the spiritual significance of the springs.

Morskie Oko (Poland): This lake is one of the largest and highest in Central Europe, and boasts some of the cleanest freshwaters in the region. It is inaccessible by car, and in the summer tourist season, people from all over the world make the 2-hour hike in order to reach these pristine waters.

Josephine Falls (Australia): This popular destination is a fantastic natural spring located near Cairns in the Australian state of Queensland.
