A Ketch is a type of sailboat that has a shorter mast behind the main mast located before the rudder. The second mast is called the mizzen mast.

A Schooner has an aft mast that is shorter than its forward mast. they can have up to six masts although most have only two.

A Yawl has a mizzen mast shorter than the main mast but the mizzen mast on a yawl is carried by the rudder post.
