This weekend, the 2018 Paul Mitchell Supergirl Surf Pro was held in Oceanside, California, in North Coastal San Diego. Every year, participants head to Oceanside for the largest women’s surfing competition in the world. This year, over 100 of the world’s top female surfers will compete for a shot at the championship.

The Supergirl Surf Pro draws over 140,000 visitors to Oceanside every year. The event not only includes the surf competition, but also a skate competition, a video-gaming competition, a 20-artist concert series, and a festival village featuring local food and drink. There are also art exhibitions, fitness classes, and panels featuring female leaders.

Locally-hosted events like these bring San Diegans and visitors alike to the beach in order to enjoy the ocean. We love that San Diego has so many opportunities for people to get out to the ocean and enjoy themselves, all while trying to maintain a responsibility for the cleanliness of our beaches and oceans.
